Scotts' Story

Our

STORY

In 1978 George and Pauline Scott opened the doors of Hartford West Indian Bakery Company Inc., on Albany Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut's North End. Their devotion to family and to this community is the keystone to their success and longevity. A cultural icon for the city of Hartford, the bakery now branded with the family name provides excellent Jamaican cuisine at accessible prices. The company motto remains true, "We Bake with Love".

Since

1978

Hardo Bread is a staple for Jamaicans around the world.  We bake ours fresh every day without any of the chemical stabilizers that allow for supermarket bread to stay soft on the shelf for weeks.  Ours doesn't last for weeks but that is on purpose.  Dress up your table for the Holidays or any special occasion with our Duck bread (shown below).
